Sukimoko? Definitely yes!

You know those moments when you and your friends decide to eat dinner together yet you can't decide on a place? It was one of these moments that led us to this building next to National Bookstore along Katipunan Avenue. The building is home to different kinds of restaurants but the one that really got our attention is the "food court" they have on the second floor of the building.

It was the typical type of foodcourt. It had tables and chairs and around it, you have these food stalls. The food court has four functional stalls: there is a stall which serves a Korean snack called hoddeok and waffles, there is also Magnolia stall serving icecream, banana splits, sundaes and milkshakes, Quickly, and of course, Sukimoko, which serves Japanese cuisine. I don't know if it was on purpose but the name seems like a witty wordplay.

So it was my friend who ordered first, asking for a Beef Gyudon, and the thing that caught my attention is that they have their kitchen just right next to their cash register, and it is an open kitchen so if you want to see how your meal is prepared, you can pretty much stand just at the side and watch. The beef gyudon costs P85 pesos and it was pretty much okay considering the price.

My other friend ordered their pork katsudon which is also P85. It had a pretty decent plating, compared to the beef gyudon. She partnered it with a P40 iced coffee and I swear it was one of the best iced coffee I have ever tasted, which I totally didn't expect from Sukimoko.

I, on the other hand, ordered from their Japanese Bento selection, asking for the Beef Tapa Teriyaki for just P85. The meal comes with a side dish of stirfried mixed vegetables which complimented the meat perfectly. Out of all the dishes that night I was happiest with the meal I ordered.

We also ordered a side of Tofu Salad for P75, so if you're vegan, they also got you covered.

The thing that I really like about Sukimoko is their unlimited iced coffee promo for only P80. As I've mentioned before, they have really good iced coffee and I was really excited when they offered the unlimited iced coffee promo. I had around 4 servings (and ended up pretty hyper throughout the night).

We also ordered the ice cream waffle sandwich and a sundae from the other stalls in the food court.

Looking at the prices in their menu, Sukimoko seems very affordable. So if you are into Japanese cuisine, but you're on a budget, you might want to pay a visit to Sukimoko. It is right next to National Bookstore. If you visit on a Friday night, you might even catch me and my friends there.

PS. Another food stall is opening soon, which serves Korean dishes, so be sure to check that out as well.

My number is 14four!

Where would you enjoy a night? Is it at home? Watching movies or reading books? Or just simply munching on your favorite snack and reflect on life? Been there, done that!

This place I found just around Taytay is a nice garden restaurant. It is not easy to find at night but is such a good place to appreciate trendy designs enhanced by good decorative lights.

The place is a venue open for shoots, seminars or any event. You can actually rent the place!

It is a place I wish I have at home so I can relax and study almost anywhere. It is a good place to go to with friends. Well, you can even go here for a date! The environment is so nice given that it is a home; it gives you a warm feeling being in the place.

I can really feel that Christmas is coming! :3

It is a nice example for recreating your place to something that is good to chill out. The garden is nice but my photos are not good. When we went here there were people who were using the function room so I didn’t get to take pictures inside.

What I like about the place is the feeling of being at home that makes it very comfortable to eat. I had dinner here with my family and it is a good place to share moments with the people whom you feel very close to. I believe it looks more beautiful in the morning.

This tree is nicely decorated with different cloths in different patterns and colors. It is a good project I like to do at home!

Regarding the food, there are only limited choices.

Country Fried Chicken (Php250)

The gravy is different from the usual gravy because it is creamy and buttery complimented by rosemary. This kind of dish doesn't come with rice but with creamy mashed potatoes. This is good for two if you would want to order rice. ;)

14 four TAPA (Php 210)

Very sweet! Just like the usual breakfast tapa we have. It comes with a garlic rice and a fried egg.

Red Wine Beef Stew (Php 340)

Beef and red wine! This can be complemented by patis, that’s what my Dad said. HAHA. It has a distinct flavor given that it has wine. Very yummy!

Chicken Margherita (Php 230)

They have pancakes and cats in the house!
Pancakes ranging from Php150- Php 190
Plus cutie cats who loves to give you an “elevator butt” pose.

Enjoy your meal in a modest setting at Filio Bistro

Filio bistro is located in Antipolo City. It is really good to visit the place at night. In this time of November, the cool breeze of the wind adds to your craving for the company of coffee. Ain’t this just the perfect timing to go to Filio Bistro? The vibe inside is a plus factor to consider the place good for chilling out.

The place has good lighting and interior. It has paintings around the area.

You can reserve a room for conference.

We ordered the specialties of the house which are:

Home Style Barbeque Ribs (Php268)

You get to choose for 2 sides

Sides: Mac n Cheese, Mashed Potato, Corn on Cob, Buttered Veg, Crispy Fries, Curly Fries, Java Rice, Dirty Rice, Garlic Rice, Side Salad, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Bacon Rice, Onion Rings, Grilled Vegetables

It is hard to eat Spare Ribs in this kind of plate. It keeps moving the plastic where the food is placed on. This is full or carbs but I managed to finish it! The ribs are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The little spice and sweetness gave it a very delicious taste.

Filio’s Chicken Barbecue (Php228)

It quite tastes like the Home Style Barbeque Ribs, it’s just chicken. You get to choose also 2 sides. As you can see below, they have different sides.Everything is tasty so whichever side you choose, all are good for your Chicken Barbecue.

Juicy and Cheesy Burger (Php198)

You can choose your own dip. I chose cheese because I really like cheese. It is really juicy and it’s so yummy for me given that I’ve added cheese on a cheesy burger. LOL

Filio Bistro serves Zesty nachos for Php158.

Again, cheese cheesecheese and then beef. Just wow!!

Lechon Kawali (Php158)

The place is really good for meet-ups and also for studying. I like places that are not too crowded to study in so this is part of my list to go to.

They offer hot and cold coffee ranging from 79-89. They also serve beers so your friends can enjoy the night with a little alcohol. ;)

What's up?! BREW UP!

I first heard about BREW UP! was around August of 2014 I was not really paying much attention to it mainly because there was no one there to go with and I thought it was just another frappe shop. But things changed when the fire nation attacked * oops, wrong intro *, but a coffee-addict friend asked if we could hang out at BREW UP and I said yes !
Located at the second floor of UP ISSI, Virata Hall, Emiliio Jacinto Street, corner University Avenue, UP Diliman , UP BREW by Palengkera is a wonderful place to hang out with friends, do homework, read papers or books, or just wind up and break free from stressful acads / office life.

"X" marks where the ISSI is located

We went there around 5:30 PM (Thursday) and we were not really sure if it is open or not. Luckily They are open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM (Talk about luck hahaha). The "ninjas" (I think that's what They call the waiters / waitress) are very accommodating. They ushered us to our seats and happily handed the menu to us.

BREW UP menu

Their menu is printed on old paper and I must say that their menu list was very Filipino. I had fun reading the names of their drinks and dishes.

KAPE:
  • Pag-ibig sa Giling Mo *served hot or cold,* (Hario v60 Pourovers, Inverted Aeropress, French Press, The Sock)
  • Cold Drip
Aerospresso Drinks:
  • Halik ni Palengkera (carabao milk+chocnut+tablea)
  • Caffe Tablea (Pinoy Moccha)
  • Caffe Magatas
HINDI KAPE:
  • Tsokolate Tablea
  • Boses Palengkera (strong Salabat)
  • Homemade Calamansi Iced Tea
  • Fruit Soda
  • Fruit Shake
Pugon Pandesal:
  • Hamon Bautista (ham and cheese)
  • Hubadero (skinless longganisa)
  • Anak ng Tinapa! (smoked bangus spread)
To Share (or not to share....):
  • Prichon Wrap
  • Chipster
Salad/Rice/Pasta
  • Pakong Pako
  • Turbo Chicken Rice
  • Sam's sardinasosyal

AND they have Special of the day. <3

I ordered cold Pag-ibig sa Giling Mo (Sagada coffee beans on Hario v60 pourover) because they said it is the mildest coffee available, and Hubadero. My friend ordered hot Pag-ibig sa Giling mo (with the strongest coffee beans which i forgot but also on Hario v60 pourover process) and Hamon Bautista.

Hubadero: Pandesal with skinless Longganisa, tomato and lettuce
Pag-ibig sa Giling Mo on P-Jars

Hamon Bautista: Quiapo's famed excelete ham and Queso de Bola

They serve just the coffee. They give a pitcher of milk and sugar (brown or white) so you can regulate the creaminess and sweetness of your coffee.

Another thing that I liked about BREW UP is they have an open kitchen so you can really see how they create your coffee and meals. You can also see what ingredients they use and also the instruments too. The cold drip process wasn't available but I had fun watching the barista make our coffee using Hario v60 pourover process.

BREW UP open kitchen

BREW UP is windowless so you can enjoy the scenery outside while sipping your coffee. (isn't that amazing?!). It's like you are in the province surrounded by trees and birds.
