Last week, we visited a family friend in Nagbalayong, Morong, Bataan. It has
been a ritual for us to eat in Loleng’s hutieu-an whenever we go to Morong.
It’s a small eatery just within the barrio. Their specialties are pinoy versions of hutieu which is a Vietnamese soup and banh mi, a bun with meat and veggie fillings.
Hutieu is known here in Morong and even in
Bataan in general because of its uniqueness at a very affordable price. It was
once featured in “Ang Pinaka” in QTV
Channel 11 in which it was one of the top 10 must try foods in Bataan.
The ambiance of the place is very simple and maka-masa. Monoblocks, small table and
that’s it.
Hutieu is a noodle soup made up of sotanghon,
pork strips, pork stock, and vegetables like bean sprout and cabbage. Unlike
other usual noodles, it is sweet in flavor. What makes it sweet are the onions
in the pork stock which truly gives the noodle a unique tangy taste.
A small
bowl of hutieu costs Php 25
while the big one costs Php 30.
The perfect partner of hutieu is the banh mi, a bun with a ground beef filling, ham, tomatoes and
onions.
A banh mi only costs Php 25. Hutieu and banh mi, a perfect pair at an affordable
price. So if you’re searching for an affordable meal without compromising the
taste and quality, then Morong’s hutieu and banh mi are waiting for you!
