KOREAN ALPHABET DAY (한글날) ♥

Annyeong haseyo! In celebration of Hangul Nal or Korean Alphabet Day, Arirang organized an event for the students to commemorate the heroic act of King Sejong, who created the Hangul or Korean words. Also, they let the students to experience Korean culture and preserve Korean art by providing various activities. It was held last October 9 in PH400 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the event, we, the students, were given mission cards. These mission cards are composed of five activities located in different booths and a question, "who created the Hangul?". Here are the activities in the event:

1. CALLIGRAPHY
We were instructed to write anything in Hangul using a brush and an ink. We were given three papers, the first and second papers are for practice.

"I really love Korean language"

"I really love Korea. I want to work in Korea"

"I want to marry Minho"

2. BUCHAE-E MINHWA KEURIGI (부채에 민화 그리기)
It means to draw in any art subjects like fans preserved by the people.  We were given fans and let us draw or write anything on it using different colors of paint.

3.  HANBOK IPGI (한복 입기)
We were given a chance to wear hanbok, the traditional Korean dress. We took a lot of pictures wearing the hanbok.

4. TAKBON (탁본)
We learned how to make takbon, the grave stone rubbing. I rubbed the ink on the traditional Korean pattern tile and then cover it with a piece of paper. To transfer the pattern in the paper, we were handed a cloth and then we tapped it on the paper.
