Who doesn't love a healthy dose of sun, sea and sand? Baler
is not your ordinary beach getaway. Nobody would be able to resist falling in
love with its inviting blue waters and refreshing air.
The very first thing I loved about Baler was its beautiful sea with really tall (and somewhat scary) rolling waves. But that is really fascinating about it is that it seems to beckon you to dive in. No wonder avid surfers from all around the world have been flocking consistently in this famed surfing spot to try out the one-of-a-kind surfing experience it offers.
Even I couldn't resist the urge to just try to play with the waves.
Baler also has its fair share of cultural and historical treasure. We
visited the celebrated Baler Church which became the refuge of Filipino rebels
during the Baler siege. Some of the relics and artifacts from that period are
displayed in the Baler museum. We also got to see a hundreds-of-years old Balete tree.
Beaches are not the only pride of this city. It also boasts
of other wondrous natural attractions. One of these attractions is the Ditumabo
falls. It is 1-hour trek away from the main road. The journey itself was
already a wonder as you will be submerged in a lush of greenery and bubbling of
a river. But when you finally see the falls, it will take your
breath away. You can also take a dip in
the cool, clear water. It is indeed one of the most beautiful places I have
ever seen.
