Manila Tour

Last November 22 of 2014, Philosophy 1 class under Prof. Symel De Guzman had a tour in Manila wherein we visited a Buddhist and Hindu temple, and an Islam mosque.

1.) Known as the major cultural center of the Chinese Filipino commmunty, Seng Guan Temple is a prominent Buddhist edifice. It is located near Divisoria in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. It is said to contain a stupa, a huge repository for urns of human ashes, several meditation rooms, and various shrines.

This will welcome you once you enter the temple.

This is one of their meditation rooms.

We were even taught how they worship (step by step).

These awesome carvings were carved on the walls of the meditation room.
The biggest Buddha I've seen so far.
Chinese Filipinos worshiping Buddha.
And of course, their visiting Buddha won't be complete without an offer (sampaguita flowers).
2.) Manila Golden Mosque and Cultural Center can be found in Quiapo, specifically in the Muslim Town. It was my first time to visit a muslim town, as well as a mosque. This house of worship of our Muslim brothers had always intrigued me and I was left in awe when I finally saw the famous "crescent" of the mosque. We were also enlightened with their teachings. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take photos of what's inside the mosque because it's their time to worship when we arrived.

3.) Last but not the least, the Bahá'í Faith. The Bahá'í Faith in the Philippines is a community of Filipinos, who like their fellow Bahá'ís living in other parts of the world, view the world's major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity. I honestly didn't know about the Bahá'í Faith but thanks to my Philosophy class I was got the opportunity to meet our Bahá'í Faith brothers and sisters. However, I was quite intrigued with their beliefs and teachings.
